Indiana Pacers: 2017-18 player grades for Lance Stephenson

Final grade

While Lance Stephenson will always have a spot in the hearts of Pacers fans, it’s important to acknowledge that his impact is largely contingent on other guys getting the momentum started. However, he is an ideal and versatile role player who can bring gritty defense, showtime moves and intangible factors like intimidation.

When it comes down to the clutch, he is a double-edged sword. He is the type of guy who can bait an emotional opponent such as a Draymond Green, but also the guy who can not be relied upon for clutch shooting or overwhelming offensive output. In today’s NBA, that limitation is much more tangible than his strengths.

Nonetheless, in the end, the Indiana Pacers got a steal on bringing back Stephenson, and he is locked and loaded to be a career Pacer.
