Memphis Grizzlies: 2017-18 player grades for Marc Gasol
By Tony East
Final grade
Gasol is still a great player. Coming into the 2017-18 season he may have been one of the most underrated centers in the league, but being on a bad team for the first time in a while really broke his spirits. That mental battle for Gasol hurt his play, and thus, his season grade.
Gasol deserves a high grade for being the best player on his team and a borderline All-Star, but he gets dinged big time for a lack of effort and showing signs of aging. If Conley comes back and Marc Gasol goes back to being dominant, then this grade could improve in retrospect.
If not, he could get another poor grade (for his standards) and opt into his player option for the 2019-20 season. That storyline will be something important to monitor all season long in Memphis next year.
