After beginning the season with a pedestrian 17-21 record, the Clippers looked destined for a spot in the NBA Draft Lottery.
The loss of All-Star point guard Chris Paul seemed too large to overcome, while a banged up Blake Griffin simply didn’t appear capable of staying on the court to lead this franchise on his own.

After a blowout loss at the hands of the Golden State Warriors on Jan. 6, the Clippers would go on to rattle off six straight wins, including victories over the two best teams in the Western Conference, Golden State and the Houston Rockets.
One could point to that six-game stretch as the jumpstart that Los Angeles needed to get back into the playoff picture.
Those wins made the players believe that even without Chris Paul on the roster, the Clippers could still be a feared opponent in the Western Conference playoff race, and that’s exactly what they became.
