Los Angeles Clippers: 5 takeaways from 2017-18 NBA season
1. Lou Williams ages gracefully
Lou Williams just finished up his 13th season playing professional basketball.
While there are plenty of athletes who don’t even make it to their 13th season, those that do rarely have the best season of their career.
Enter Lou Williams.
The professional bucket getter averaged a career-high 22.6 points and 5.3 assists per game, dazzling the opposition with an array of shot-making that was all the more impressive when you realize that Williams is a minuscule 6’1″, 175 pounds.
Despite playing starters minutes at 32.8 a game, Williams was technically the sixth man for L.A. and the leading candidate for Sixth Man of the Year. He gave the Clippers an instant scoring advantage off the bench, which allowed the starters to play more relaxed, knowing everything didn’t ride or die with them.
Arguably the best part of what Williams brought to the table was what he didsn’t bring to the salary cap sheet.

Recently extended for only three years and $21 million, Lou Will gives the Clippers an elite bench weapon that doesn’t strangle them financially, which could prove beneficial if they can get into the interview rooms of some of the top free agents in the coming offseasons.
