Los Angeles Lakers: 3 takeaways from Lakers loss in season debut

1. Game notes on role players and positive takeaway
While it is easy for Lonzo Ball to garner all the unwanted negative energy from this loss, something should be said of his character and body language. He came off as more mature then most rookies do in the league and you would never know the kid has reality show cameras constantly on his every move. He is composed and seems to embrace the pressure, which will only help as the season moves forward.
Brandon Ingram was not off to the best start in this season debut as the backcourt definitely failed to meet expectations in a big way on offense. Ingram finished the night with 12 points on 30 minutes of playing time shooting an awful 3-for-15 while grabbing five rebounds and four assists.
Fan favorite Kyle Kuzma saw some decent time and came away with good results scoring eight points on 4-for-8 shooting but went 0-for-2 from beyond the arc. His defense was not the best as he came away with a -17 plus/minus but managed to grab himself two steals.
Julius Randle had an equally fair outing compared to Kuzma as well as he scored 9 points in 17 minutes on 4-for-8 shooting but went 0-for-1 from beyond the arc. He made decent contributions on the glass for such short time on the court, grabbing six rebounds as well as one steal.
Overall this was not a terrible game for the Lakers as they searched for solid ground in their season opener against a much more talented cast in the Clippers. The big negatives of the night are the total of turnovers committed which was 19 to the Clippers 14 while they out blocked the Clippers 7-to-3. The Lakers have potential to be a decent team on defense, but certainly need to find their roles and chemistry sooner rather than later on offense.
