8. Otto Porter Jr., Washington Wizards

His massive offseason contract all but confirmed Otto Porter Jr. as the third member of the Washington Wizards‘ Big Three — for better or worse.

While Porter undoubtedly had a career year in 2016-17, averaging 13.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game on .516/.434/.832 shooting splits, none of that — save the exceptional 43.4 percent shooting from downtown — screams “future superstar,” which is exactly what the Wizards are paying him like now.

However, Porter is still only 24, so rather than focus on his contract situation, perhaps we should stay positive: Though he’s not a future stud in the making, he’s a terrific complementary piece who will spread the floor, defend, pull down rebounds and not step on the toes of John Wall or Bradley Beal. Here’s hoping he can take another leap in 2017-18 though, because that’s not enough to contend for the Eastern belt, let alone a title one day.
