4. Orlando Magic

The Magic finished last season with only 29 wins. That marked the fourth time in five years they failed to rack up 30 or more victories. Unfortunately, they might be playing to the same tune once again in 2017-18.

That’s the result of a pretty uneventful offseason. Outside of bringing in new General manager John Hammond, not much happened in south Florida.

Jonathan Isaac, the sixth overall pick, was the big get. He’s the perfect Hammond player — long, athletic and multi-positional. He appeared to be a fan favorite as the draft got closer and impressed many fans and team personnel alike with his amazing potential.

Another Jonathon, Jonathon Simmons, was the main free agency acquisition. He came over from the San Antonio Spurs and gives Orlando some much-needed defensive toughness. That gives Frank Vogel many options to work with and the ability to tinker with his lineup.

At point guard, he has contrasting players in Elfrid Payton and D.J. Augustin. On the wing, Terrence Ross, Evan Fournier, Mario Hezonja and Simmons present many different skill-sets. Isaac and Aaron Gordon can slide between the 3 and 4 as needed. And at center, Nikola Vucevic and Bismack Biyombo provide a diverse frontcourt.

That solid 10-man rotation will give Vogel many alternatives to play around with and match up with opposing teams on any night. If a couple of those players play beyond their expectations, this team could easily rise up these rankings.
