4. Move beyond the nagging injuries

One of the things that has caused Lance Stephenson to underachieve in recent years is his penchant for injuries. He did not have that problem during his first stint in Indiana, but since then has dealt with a variety of health issues.

During his time in Charlotte, Stephenson sustained a pelvic sprain and a right toe sprain that slowed his progress on the court. After being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, he once again had to deal with a sprain — this time to his right wrist.

The New Orleans Pelicans signed Lance Stephenson in 2016, but an injured groin that required surgery led to the Pelicans waiving him just two months later.

In early 2017 the Minnesota Timberwolves came calling, but history repeated itself. Stephenson sprained his left ankle and the Wolves released him after he was signed to two 10-day contracts.

Lance Stephenson is now back with the Pacers, and he must find a way to remain healthy if he is to make an impact this coming season.

Stephenson has a great deal of talent, but attitude and maturity issues have held him back in the past. He has made progress in those areas, but now he must also focus on taking care of his body and preparing himself to play 82 games next year.
