Phoenix Suns: 4 players you’ll talk about more in 2017-18
By Drew Zlogar
Alan Williams
The fourth and final Suns player to keep an eye out for is Alan Williams. Williams, or “Big Sauce” as he is known by the Suns faithful, just inked a deal worth $17 million over three years, with $6 million guaranteed.
He showed signs of being a valuable piece off the bench last season in his action. Playing in 57 total games with the Suns over two years (47 of which came last season), his field goal percentage is above 50 percent.

Williams only played 15 minutes per contest last year, but posted averages of 7.4 points, and 6.2 rebounds per game. On a per 36 minute basis, his numbers were off the charts at 17.6 points to go with 14.8 rebounds.
Williams is a Phoenix native, and is a fan favorite among the Suns following. His mother is an active member in the Phoenix Police department, and coupled with her son being an established basketball player, Alan Williams is beloved by the community.
On the floor there may be some concerns with his game and specifically with his size, but Williams has found a way to stay relevant, and continue to prove himself since entering the league in 2015. Although he is a bit undersized for a big man (6’8″, 260 pounds) his work ethic makes him stand out.

There is no denying the numbers that he puts up when given the opportunity. With questions still surfacing around Alex Len and his future with the Suns, and the age that is catching up to Tyson Chandler game by game, Williams has the potential for his biggest pro season yet in the first year of his new contract.
