One year ago, the Pacers traded George Hill in order to bring point guard Jeff Teague to Indiana. Larry Bird attempted to sign Teague to a contract extension, but that did not happen.

Teague then became an unrestricted free agent who ultimately may have been too expensive to retain. There was mutual interest between Teague and the Pacers, but Teague has agreed to sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to reports.

Ironically, since Indiana must now move on from Jeff Teague, the man who was traded for him is perhaps the best available option to replace him one year later.

George Hill had an outstanding season in 2016-17 as a member of the Utah Jazz. He posted a career-high 16.9 points, as well as 4.2 assists and 3.4 rebounds per contest.

Hill has also become a very reliable three-point threat, hitting 40 percent of his attempts last season. He is also regarded as one of the best defensive point guards in the league, which is an area of need for the Pacers.

George Hill’s price tag may be dropping as some of the other top free agents at his position have already agreed to terms. Hill’s options may be dwindling, and Indiana would like to have him back if he can be signed for a reasonable figure.
