Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Reasons They Will Make The Playoffs
By Joshua Lea
3. The Well-Balanced Attack
The Lakers have multiple scoring options. I know, it’s crazy to even think that. This team has been handicapped by the brilliance of Kobe’s offensive genius for the last decade. As a result, Laker fans are used to seeing Kobe just take over a game.
Now, with Kobe gone, the Lakers have a well-balanced offense that shows itself each game. While Lou Williams leads the Lakers in overall scoring with 16.5 points a game, Jordan Clarkson is a close second with 15.4 points a game.
Julius Randle also provides relief in the paint, grabbing eight boards a game. They have veteran leaders in Luol Deng and Metta World Peace, giving the Lakers a real chance to make some noise this season in the NBA.
Having five players averaging double-digit scoring on a nightly basis is key for the Lakers’ playoff hopes. They move the ball, and they do it well. As a team, they are shooting 47 percent overall and 34 percent from three.
They’ll have to tighten up their defense as their opponents are shooting 46 percentoverall
Even if the Lakers fail to make the postseason this year, it does not mean this season will not be a success. So far, they have exceeded expectations making this season a success already.
