Re-Signing JC

While the Lakers had lofty ambitious goals to acquire some premier talent in free agency, one of their top priorities was bringing back a player who has been and remains an essential part of their future plans.

Since being selected in the second round of the 2014 draft, Jordan Clarkson has done nothing but prove his worth to the Lakers organization and the team rewarded him this summer with a four-year, $50 million extension.

Clarkson’s coming off of a 2015-16 season where he was the team’s second-leading scorer with 15.5 points per game while improving his three-point percentage from 31.4 to 34.7 percent.

By bringing him back into the fold, the Lakers preserve their promising core composed of him, Russell, Randle and Ingram. It also shows their dedication to letting the quartet grow into a competitive unit with the support of a mixed group of youngsters and veterans on the roster.

Add in the fact that the Lakers brought him back on an absolute bargain of a deal and this is an absolutely solid signing.
