2016 NBA Playoffs: All-First Round Team
Kyrie Irving, Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavs point guard was up and down to finish the regular season. After shooting above 50 percent in four of the team’s first five games in March and averaging 24.8 points per game, Irving played to close the regular season Irving over the last 15 games, shooting under 40 percent in seven of those games — including shooting under 30 percent three times.
The fifth-year All-Star stepped up his game in the Cavaliers’ first round series against the Detroit Pistons. In the short four-game series Irving rose to the pressure. In Game 1 he shot his worst percentage for the series (41 percent). From behind the arc, Irving shot 47 percent for the series (16-for-34) in his matchup with Reggie Jackson. In the first three games, Irving shot at least 50 percent from three-point range.
For the series, he put up 27.5 points, 4.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
Irving iced Game 3 for Cleveland with a corner three-pointer in a 101-91 victory and iced the series in Game 4 with a defensive stop vs. Reggie Jackson to clinch the series.
Hopefully, Irving can play throughout the Cavs entire playoff run this season.
