  • Hornacek, 52, led the Suns to a 48-34 record in his first season as head coach, but that record was not good enough to make the playoffs. In his second season, Hornacek had to deal with a roster overhaul as the trade deadline neared. During the 2014-15 season, the Suns traded away Isaiah Thomas, Goran Dragic, and then acquired Brandon Knight.

Through all the changes, he led the Suns to a 39-43 record.

During this season, Hornacek was tasked with a tough job after a couple of offseason moves, including trading forward Marcus Morris, in an attempt to land free agent forward LaMarcus Aldridge. Since the Suns didn’t land Aldridge, it left them a bit short-handed.

They still managed to not live up to expectations, and it only got worse when Eric Bledsoe went down with a season-ending knee injury. Hornacek was ultimately fired but, as Hoops Habit’s Michael Dunlap writes, it won’t solve the Suns’ problems.

Hornacek is on the Wizards’ list of coaching candidates, according to Yahoo!’s Wojnarowski. If he were to land the Wizards’ coaching position, he would be reunited with forward Markieff Morris.

Hornacek could find work as an assistant coach, if he doesn’t land a head coaching position this offseason.
