NBA: 20 Players Turning Their Seasons Around
11. Alex Len
I’ve already covered Alex Len‘s recent signs of life in-depth after interim head coach Earl Watson made it abundantly clear he’d be the team’s new No. 1 option, but suffice it to say that this third-year center is starting to overcome the injury concerns and other obstacles that plagued him early in his career with the Phoenix Suns.
Since the Markieff Morris trade, Len is averaging 18.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game on 46.3 percent shooting. In the month of February alone, he’s posted new career highs in scoring (23 against the San Antonio Spurs on Feb. 21), rebounding (18 against the Houston Rockets on Feb. 4) and made free throws (eight against the Grizzlies on Feb. 27).
He still needs to stay healthy and work harder to stay out of foul trouble, but the strength, the midrange touch and the aggressiveness are all starting to come together for this promising 22-year-old in the middle of a lost season.
