4. New York Knicks

The New York Knicks have built a second unit that can best be described as, “Strong in numbers.” There’s no true standout, but the likes of Kyle O’Quinn, Kevin Seraphin and Derrick Williams combine to solidify the interior depth.

For as solid as that trio combines to be, one can’t help but wonder how much better New York would be with a legitimate sixth man in Taj Gibson.

Gibson is an elite offensive rebounder and a rugged defender—areas in which the Knicks seek aid from their current reserves. Gibson essentially serves the same purpose as O’Quinn and Seraphin, but he performs at a consistently higher level.

Seeing as New York doesn’t have a first-round draft pick in 2016, the playoffs are the only thing left to play for.

Kristaps Porzingis is the future, and the sooner he gets a taste of postseason basketball, the better off he’ll be. Gibson could help the Knicks get to that point as a player who would round out a very strong interior with Porzingis and Robin Lopez.

This isn’t his No. 1 fit, but Gibson would be a throwback to the Knicks teams of the 1990s.
