The Best Bargain Contract On All 30 NBA Teams
Denver Nuggets: Will Barton
2015-16 Salary: $3.5 million
2016-17 Salary: $3.5 million
2017-18 Salary: $3.5 million
Honorable Mention: N/A
There’s really only one correct answer here. Most of the Denver Nuggets‘ most attractive assets are on rookie-scale contracts, Danilo Gallinari and the injured Wilson Chandler are overpaid for this season considering what they’re providing at the moment and I’m still not crazy about Kenneth Faried’s extension, even if he’s been better lately.
But even if you’re perfectly fine with Faried’s contract, Will Barton has easily been the best value deal on the roster. He’s making less than $4 million a year through the 2017-18 season, but he’s immediately cemented his place as one of the league’s leading candidates for the Sixth Man of the Year Award.
Averaging 16.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, Barton is instant energy off the bench. He’s shooting 45.5 percent from the floor and 38.8 percent from three-point range, which is even more impressive considering he’s taking 4.4 of them per game. Barton is not only a great value for the Nuggets, he might be one of the best bargains the NBA right now.
