NBA: New Year’s Resolutions For All 30 Teams
Chicago Bulls
Figure Out The Jimmy Butler Situation
The Chicago Bulls have a laundry list of problems right now, on and off the court. Fred Holberg’s offense is a bottom-five unit, Derrick Rose still plays like it’s 2011, Jimmy Butler‘s leadership may not match his impressive skill set and there’s a Joakim Noah–Pau Gasol–Nikola Mirotic–Taj Gibson–Bobby Portis frontcourt logjam that needs to be sorted out.
But the most troubling of those issues is the Jimmy Butler situation, which may or may not be related to D-Rose’s refusal to acknowledge his own limitations. This is undoubtedly Butler’s team now, but there are nights when it certainly doesn’t appear that way.
For the Bulls to take the next step forward and claim the title of “most dangerous threat to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the East,” they’ll need Butler to take control of the team on the court…and become a better leader off of it.
