Tom Izzo

Position: Head Coach

Years Active: 1995 to Present

Accolades: National Championship, 7x Final Four, 9x Elite Eight, 13x Sweet Sixteen, AP Coach of the Year, NABC Coach of the Year, Henry Iba Award, 11 combined Big Ten championships

In the world of coaching, few command respect quite like Tom Izzo. The manufacturer of many memorable seasons, Izzo is one of the most accomplished men in college basketball history.

It’s only fitting that Izzo is up for consideration while his Spartans contend for another Big Ten championship.

During Izzo’s illustrious career, he’s led Michigan State to seven appearances in the Final Four. He’s reached the Elite Eight nine times and has made the Sweet Sixteen on an obscene 13 different occasions.

Izzo also owns a National Championship and a second appearance in the title game.

Izzo has exceeded 500 career wins, has seven regular season Big Ten championships, and has won four of the Big Ten tournament crowns. The NBA players whom Izzo has produced include Draymond Green, Zach Randolph and Jason Richardson.

Izzo doesn’t have as many wins as some other college coaches in the Hall of Fame, but after Gary Williams’ induction in 2014 and John Calipari’s in 2015, Izzo is the next logical—and very deserving—addition.
