22. John Stockton

John Stockton is No. 1 all-time in both assists and steals. What’s often overlooked about Stockton is that he’s one of the smoothest and most reliable shooters to ever reach the NBA.

His seven seasons above 40 percent shooting from beyond the arc only begin to tell the story.

Stockton is, arguably, the greatest pick-and-roll facilitator in NBA history. A major reason for his success in running that play was his uncanny ability to knock down jumpers when defenses collapsed to cover Karl Malone.

From mid-range, Stockton was as deadly as any player who came before him and any who have come since.

Stockton never converted 3-point field goals with the volume of a Stephen Curry, but he was dangerous from beyond the arc. He could shoot from anywhere on the floor, and that helped the rest of his game flourish.

Stockton isn’t the first player to come to mind on a greatest shooters list, but he should be up there.
