24. George Gervin

George Gervin is one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. More times than not, people will praise his slashing ability and the smooth nature with which he attacked the basket.

What truly made The Iceman special as a scorer was how automatic his in-between game was.

The 3-point shot wasn’t very relevant during Gervin’s time, which makes this less of a statistical evaluation. What should be noted is that he shot above 50 percent in each of the four seasons during which he won the NBA scoring title.

That wouldn’t have happened without Gervin’s mid-range game being close to un-guardable.

Gervin never attempted enough 3-point field goals for those percentages to be relevant. He was an excellent free throw shooter, however, who never once shot below 80 percent during his 14-year career between the ABA and NBA.

Gervin doesn’t have the 3-point numbers of many of the other players on this list, but he was an outstanding shooter.
