Quick Thoughts

As you can see, the Thunder didn’t really add any big pieces this offseason, nor did they lose any members of their regular rotation from last year. Perry Jones and Jeremy Lamb were young players with high upside, but since OKC wanted to re-sign Enes Kanter this summer, they had to move on a bit earlier than expected to soften the blow of the impending luxury tax bill.

The Thunder’s three offseason additions come in the form of draft picks — two from 2015 and one from 2014. Last year, Oklahoma City made Josh Huestis the first unofficial domestic “draft and stash” prospect, sending him to their D-League affiliate for what would’ve been his rookie season before signing him to a four-year deal this summer.

OKC also took promising backup point guard Cameron Payne at No. 14 in this year’s draft before selecting Kentucky big Dakari Johnson with the 48th overall pick. None of those rookie additions will make much of a difference in 2015-16, and the biggest summer additions will actually be the returning Kevin Durant and Enes Kanter.
