Welcome, Wayne

Though he’s not young like Shane Larkin or Thomas Robinson, the 27-year-old Wayne Ellington is a decent pickup to bolster Brooklyn’s depth on the wing. A 6’4″ shooting guard who’s spent six years in the league, Ellington is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, averaging 10.0 points per game while shooting 37 percent from downtown with the Los Angeles Lakers.

For the perfectly manageable price of $1.5 million over the course of his one-year deal, the Nets will give Ellington a chance to replace Alan Anderson as a scorer off the bench.

One year isn’t a lot of time to make an impact, but keep in mind this team lost D-Will, Anderson and Teletovic this summer. If Ellington can spread the floor as effectively as he did in Los Angeles, the Nets will be better off for it.

Grade: C+
