Brooklyn Nets: Grading The Offseason
Adding T-Rob
Keeping with the theme of adding young, unproven players on almost negligible contracts, the Nets signed free agent Thomas Robinson to a two-year deal (with a second-year player option) worth $2.2 million.
As the No. 5 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, Robinson hasn’t lived up to his billing as a top five selection. He’s already played for the Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers and Philadelphia 76ers in his three-year career, failing to find a suitable role with any of them.
On his fifth team, Robinson will hope to bring the same energy he provided in Philly, where he averaged 8.8 points and 7.7 rebounds in only 18.5 minutes per game. Robinson had knee surgery in July, but he should be ready for the start of training camp. He’ll have his work cut out for him to prove he deserves minutes behind Thaddeus Young over Andrea Bargnani.
