June 20, 2006 — Miami Heat at Dallas Mavericks

36 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in 45 minutes

Elite players are supposed to be at their best when the most is at stake.

Well, Wade left little doubt he was among the game’s very best, when he dropped 36 points with 10 rebounds in Game 6 of the 2006 NBA Finals that gave the Heat its first title.

Wade went to the rim all night long and the Mavs simply couldn’t slow him down. He shot 10-of-18 from the field and converted 16-of-21 free throws in the contest.

Wade also added five assists, four steals and three blocks. It’s a legendary performance made even more impressive when considering this game was on the road and Wade’s partner-in-crime Shaquille O’Neal contributed just nine points.

The outing capped off perhaps the greatest individual series in NBA Finals history, as Wade averaged 34.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, one block and 2.7 steals en route to winning series MVP.
