Dwyane Wade: The 10 Best Games Of His Career
By Sam Richmond
April 12, 2009 — New York Knicks at Miami Heat
55 points, nine rebounds and four assists in 39 minutes
Wade’s most prolific offensive performance came in 2009 against the Knicks. He scorched New York for 55 points while shooting 19-for-30 from the field, 6-of-12 from three-point range and 11-for-13 from the line.
Wade did such extensive damage to the Knicks in just 39 minutes. There’s little doubt Wade would have set Miami’s franchise record for points in a game (Glen Rice, 56 points) had Heat coach Erik Spoelstra not pulled him with 1:06 left in the game to avoid risk of injury.
Wade was flat-out unstoppable in the game. He had 50 points after three quarters, which, incredibly, was three points more than the rest of his teammates had combined.
Coming in the 80th game of the season, Wade made a pretty strong case he should have been the NBA’s 2008-09 MVP. Wade ultimately finished third in voting, with his future teammate LeBron coming away with the award.
