Okay, so I might be bending the rules here, but I have to. It’s MICHAEL JORDAN!
At the time, Jordan was a minority owner of the Wizards and President of Basketball Operations, so technically he wasn’t a free agent, but I’m going to count it anyway!
Although Jordan’s best years were well behind him when he joined the Washington Wizards in 2001-02, Jordan still led the Wizards in scoring during his three years in Washington and gave us one last look at the greatest basketball player to ever play the game.
Those last few years might have changed our opinion of him a little bit, but Jordan couldn’t give up the dream, even after six championships. Regardless of what you think, you have to respect his love for the game… and the spotlight.
