After struggling in his first two seasons in the league with the Golden State Warriors, Gus Williams signed with the Seattle Supersonics and immediately became one of the best scorers in the NBA.

Williams (19.2 PPG) partnered with Jack Sikma (15.6 PPG), Dennis Johnson (15.9 PPG), “Downtown” Freddy Brown (14.0 PPG), and Lonnie Shelton (13.5 PPG) to lead the Sonics to the top seed in the West and to Seattle’s first and only NBA Championship.

Williams had five really good seasons in Seattle, and he remains the best free agent pickup in Supersonics’ history.
