NBA Awards Watch: Rookie Of The Year
3. Andrew Wiggins – Minnesota Timberwolves/SG
Last Week: No. 3
For all of those who were patiently waiting for Andrew Wiggins to get aggressive and get more assertive on the offensive side of the basketball, your wishes got answered. Wiggins consistently has scored around eight points a game, but against the Brooklyn Nets, Wiggins had his highest scoring output as a professional basketball player.
Wiggins scored 17 points against the Nets and got buckets in a multitude of ways.
Whether Wiggins had to use his quick first step to blow by Joe Johnson in the corner, and elevate over Brook Lopez to score, he did it. In addition, Wiggins had a pretty step back against Bojan Bogdanovic that left his defender on skates. Though Wiggins frame is small, he’s a lot stronger than he looks.
Wiggins got to the free throw line four times and inside of the paint, he finished his attempts.
Also, for those who were thinking that his shooting game is weak, think again. Wiggins again nailed another 3-pointer and continues to show his doubters that he too is an offensive weapon. With more scoring outputs like this, we will see Wiggins start to elevate on our rookie rankings.
