Charlotte Bobcats: 3 Ways To Fix The NBA’s Worst Defense

The Charlotte Bobcats need help in pretty much every aspect of their roster. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Kemba Walker are intriguing pieces, but neither will ever blossom without the proper supporting cast. The Bobcats can choose to improve their offense or defense this offseason. Or even better, both. But let’s roll with their horrid defense that ranked dead last in defensive efficiency this past season. A lack of a experienced players hindered the Bobcats on defense, in some cases, not all. Kidd-Gilchrist was and is still projected to be a...

Charlotte Bobcats: Charlotte Hornets Might Return to NBA Landscape

What’s in a name? The Charlotte Hornets played in the NBA for only 14 seasons, from 1988-89 through 2001-02, before moving to New Orleans and taking the nickname with them. But the New Orleans franchise has undergone an identity shift. New owner Tom Benson has renamed the team the Pelicans and, according to CBSSports.com, the process is already under way for Charlotte to reclaim the name it lost more than a decade ago. The Charlotte Observer reported in April that deputy commissioner Adam Silver told season-ticket holders in Charlotte that...

Charlotte Bobcats: Grading Each Player’s Performance In 2012-13

The Charlotte Bobcats improved this year in the sense that, unlike last year’s team, they weren’t the worst team in the history of the NBA. They managed to win 21 games, while young players like Kemba Walker and Gerald Henderson demonstrated that they have a lot of talent and might be able to take the Bobcats out of the gutter. Some spots were brighter than others, but there is certainly some cause for optimism in Charlotte these days. Kemba Walker Walker improved significantly in his sophomore season, displaying the potential he...

Charlotte Bobcats: Breaking Down Michael Kidd-Gilchrist’s Rookie Season

From  the No. 2 overall pick in last year’s NBA Draft to trying to avoid the dreaded “bust” status, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist hasn’t had the ideal start to what was expected to, and still can, be a promising NBA career. Before we slap the bust label on Kidd-Gilchrist, though, I can’t stress this enough: It’s far too early in his career to start calling him a bust. Basketball pundits would concur that his rookie season didn’t go as planned. That’s a valid point. He averaged just nine points and 5.8 rebounds in 26 minutes per game, all while...

Charlotte Bobcats: Is Gerald Henderson a Legit No. 1 Scoring Option?

There haven’t been too many bright spots this season for Gerald Henderson and the Charlotte Bobcats. The Bobcats have followed up a historically bad 7-59 season with another terrible season, as the Bobcats are currently 18-57 and heading towards another last-place finish in the weaker Eastern Conference. There are some talented players on the Bobcats, but the team is a project that will likely remain out of playoff contention for at least another year. Kemba Walker has averaged a solid 17 points per game (PPG) for Charlotte and he has...

Live NBA Blog: Miami Heat vs. Charlotte Bobcats (4/5/13)

Tonight the Charlotte Bobcats are hosting the Miami Heat at 8:00 p.m. (EST) on ESPN in the U.S. and on NBA TV in Canada. The Bobcats (18-57) are 4-6 in their last 10 games and will be looking to make it two in a row after defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 88-83 on Wednesday. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Ray Allen will not be available for the Heat (58-16) and Mario Chalmers is a game-time decision. The Heat, who earlier this season won 27-straight games, have a secure hold on the top spot in the Eastern Conference but are battling with the...

NBA: One Player Each Team Can’t Do Without

The phrase “franchise player” gets thrown around a lot. Teams usually have a player that encapsulates what the franchise is about. They help sell tickets, bring in new fans and most importantly — win games. Let’s look at one player each team in the NBA couldn’t manage without. Atlanta Hawks: Al Horford Al Horford is a very underrated player. A very skilled big man, Horford doesn’t get the attention of frontcourt mate Josh Smith — perhaps due to J-Smoove’s dunks — but he is definitely more of an elite performer....

Kemba Walker: Why He Has Been the NBA’s Most Improved Player

Kemba Walker is a good player on a horrible Charlotte Bobcats team. Even though the Bobcats have some talent and have improved upon a historically bad 2011-12 campaign, they are easily the worst team in the NBA. They are 41 games behind the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference and they own a mind-boggling 17-56 record. During the 2011-12 season, the Bobcats were 7-59 and they haven’t been much better this year. In its last 61 games, Charlotte is 10-51. When you hear these stats, you might want to say that the Bobcats have no good...

Charlotte Bobcats: At Least There’s Kemba Walker

On Tuesday, March 12, fans of the Charlotte Bobcats finally had something to cheer about. The Bobcats stunned the Boston Celtics by a score of 100-74 in one of the most shocking results of the year. It was one of the rare occasions in recent months when the team has been something other than completely embarrassing. After starting the season 7-5, the Bobcats have gone 7-45 since, and are a lot closer to last year’s team (aka the Worst Team In NBA History) than we might have thought at the beginning of the year. Still, the news...

Charlotte Bobcats: West Coast trip makes the wrong kind of history

The Charlotte Bobcats completed a spectacularly bad trip to the West Coast Monday, March 4, with a 122-105 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden. It left the Bobcats 0-4 on their journey with the 17-point loss to the Trail Blazers representing the closest contest of the bunch. That’s right: Charlotte lost all four games by at least 17 points. That’s not just bad. That’s historically bad (more on that in a bit). The trip began on Tuesday, Feb. 26, with a 106-84 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center, continued...
