The Cleveland Cavaliers were hoping for something better than the No. 5 overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft, but here are three potential trades involving the pick.

Falling to No. 5 in the 2019 NBA Draft was not the ideal plan for the Cleveland Cavaliers. An entire season dedicated to hopefully landing the first overall pick now feels like a waste as the odds of drafting a future superstar have drastically decreased.

There will, of course, be some talent spread throughout the first round. However, the trio of Zion Williamson, R.J. Barrett and Ja Morant are without a doubt the most coveted players in the draft. Due to this top-heavy draft class, not having a top-three pick is a devastating blow.

Making big trades involving lottery draft picks is not an uncommon thing to do.

The Cavaliers themselves have taken part in this recently when they traded away two No. 1 overall players from consecutive drafts (Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett) in exchange for Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

While this year’s pick won’t hold as much value as a few of the Cavaliers former picks, they can still complete some great deals. Let’s look at three potential trades the front office could make involving the fifth overall pick.
