The Denver Nuggets will ink All-Star Isaiah Thomas to a one-year deal. Coming off an injury-plagued season, the point guard has a lot to prove. How will he fit in with the Nuggets’ young core?

Dubbed “The Little Guy” by longtime Boston Celtics legend Tommy Heinsohn, Isaiah Thomas has outgrown his moniker. Despite being one of the shortest stars in recent memory, Thomas has been a giant boost for his teams. Yet, fans and players alike feel bad for the journeyman, as he missed out on the massive payday he expected to receive.

Do not feel bad for the Denver Nuggets, however.

A one-year, $2 million deal may not be the worst thing for Thomas. Sure, the Brinks trucks stayed in the garage, but next year’s market will feature plenty of teams with cap space. There will also be a solid crop of free agent point guards, meaning that teams may need Thomas to fill roster gaps. A “prove it” year could be just what this recovering star needed.

Although future offseasons are fun to discuss, I am still focused on how Isaiah Thomas will fit on next year’s Nuggets team. Was this a good pickup for Denver?

Of course, the main concern about Thomas is his health. As an undersized point guard, Thomas relies heavily on his explosiveness. His impressive athleticism counteracts some of his negative physical attributes. Regardless, Thomas still brings a lot to the table. What are the three ways he can positively impact this team?
