Houston Rockets: 5 dream targets during 2018 NBA free agency
LeBron James, SF, Cleveland Cavaliers
Right now, everyone seems stuck on the idea that James will either re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers or join the Lakers during the 2018 offseason. However, we seem to be forgetting that other landing spots could easily come into the picture.
Of the teams not named Cavaliers or Lakers, the Rockets seem to be the most often mentioned as a possible destination for James. He happens to be great friends with Paul, and obviously wants to win with whichever team he chooses. You could argue Houston gives him the best chance at securing a couple more rings, outside of maybe Golden State.
Like I mentioned previously, Ariza’s contract is expiring this offseason. That’ll leave a hole in the Rockets’ starting lineup that LeBron would fit perfectly into. Although Harden probably wouldn’t like being eclipsed as the go-to option for Houston, he’d no doubt appreciate the championship push James seems to give whatever team he’s on.
LBJ to the Rockets would change the entire landscape of the Western Conference. People were taking Houston seriously heading into this current season, but they’d instantly emerge as favorites with James in the lineup. A starting five including LeBron, Harden and CP3 would be too loaded to be denied at least a trip to the Western Conference Finals.

The Rockets haven’t won an NBA title since 1995. Finding a way to lure James to town would change that in a hurry.
