The Indiana Pacers have signed three free agents this summer as they begin life without Paul George. Here is a breakdown of the team’s 2017 free agent crop.

The Indiana Pacers‘ initial plan was to build around All-Star small forward Paul George, but when George stated his desire to leave Indiana, Kevin Pritchard‘s plan had to be reworked.

The vision has now shifted toward building a roster of team-first players who are young enough that there is still room for them to grow. The Pacers are not interested in tanking; the goal is to remain competitive even though the rotation is in flux.

Indiana has been prudent with its salary cap situation, handing out reasonable contracts of shorter length to point guard Darren Collison and small forward Bojan Bogdanovic — both of whom are projected starters at this time.

The Pacers also plan to bring veteran wing player Damien Wilkins to training camp. Wilkins has been out of the NBA for more than four years, but he’s earned a shot with Indiana as a result of his success in the D-League.

This is not a five-star group of free agents, but as Pacers fans know, getting second- or third-tier talent is about the best Indiana can ever hope for in terms of free agent signings.

Let’s meet the Indiana Pacers’ free agency class of 2017, and dig into the pros and cons of each signee. The Pacers will not be a title contender in 2017-18, but just how far can the new-look roster take this franchise in the coming year?
