After trending in the right direction for two years, the Washington Wizards took a step back last season and missed the playoffs. But things should turn around next season.

The Washington Wizards headed into their 2015-16 campaign feeling pretty good about where they were on the path to contention.

Having lost to the Atlanta Hawks in a tightly contended second-round matchup, it seemed reasonable to predict that they would have a legitimate shot at an Eastern Conference Finals berth should they benefit from internal growth, as well as a boost to their bench from additions like Alan Anderson, Gary Neal and Jared Dudley.

Unfortunately things did not pan out last season. The Wizards missed the playoffs as the season was defined by head scratching losses and injuries.

The team had seemingly given up on its coaching staff and with Bradley Beal and Nene Hilario missing significant time, the team was just stretched too thin.
