The Dallas Mavericks are coming; almost every move that they have made this summer appears to have made them better. Seth Curry for $6 million over two years? What a bargain.

Seth Curry is not trying to be the man his brother is, he is trying to make his way in the NBA on his own. Before the start of last season Seth was offered a contract with the Golden State Warriors and, unlike a certain ex-Oklahoma City Thunder small forward, turned it down.

Yes, Seth turned down an offer with the champions to make his own way in the NBA. He signed with the Sacramento Kings and then struggled to get playing time behind the NBA assist leader from last year, Rajon Rondo.

In typical Sacramento style, they have since lost the battle to keep Curry, relinquishing his rights and losing him as an unrestricted free agent, with Curry getting $6 million over two years as per Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical. Hats off to the Dallas Mavericks for getting this bargain.

Now I am not going all weak at the knees at Seth because his last name is Curry. The NBA has had several brother combinations where one has been talented and the other less so.

Horace Grant and Harvey Grant are the first ones that I can remember but the Antetokounmpo brothers are a prime example of it in today’s NBA. Giannis Antetokounmpo is a freak of nature, Thanasis Antetokounmpo struggles a bit.

I simply looked at the stats from the last 10 games of the Kings season and saw nothing but potential. In those 10 games, Curry’s stats were as follows: 30.1 minutes, 15.5 points, 4.1 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game.

His shooting was amazing as well, with a slash line of 47/49/90.

Seriously, who shoots threes better than they shoot twos? Sacramento has lost Rondo and now they have lost Curry. Is it any wonder that DeMarcus Cousins gets a little bit frustrated?

Dallas has done wonders with its roster this year. Aside from adding Curry, they finally got their quality center in Andrew Bogut. They now have the rim protection of the one-man wall.

Chandler Parsons decided that it was time to get a max contract despite the fact that his numbers did not deserve it. The Mavericks upgraded to Harrison Barnes.

That is two out of five of the starting lineup of the 73 win Warriors from last season. Two of the championship Warriors from two seasons ago.

Add to this that the Mavericks have re-signed Dwight Powell and Deron Williams. They also agreed to bring Dirk Nowitzki for another contract and the Mavericks look scary.

If the Mavericks can stop being injured like they were at the end of last season then they will put together a starting line up of Williams at point, Wesley Matthews as the shooting guard, Barnes at small forward, Nowitzki at power forward and Bogut at center.

That team is going to give most others in the NBA trouble.

On the bench, Dallas have Justin Anderson, Powell, J.J. Barea and now Seth Curry with the potential to bring David Lee and Raymond Felton back for even more bench depth.

Curry will not average 15 points and four assists this year with Dallas but he will develop even further and be a valuable bench piece for the Mavericks, particularly if he keeps up the 49 percent from three that he shot for those last 10 games.

His three-point percentage for the season was 45 percent, hitting 50-of-111 in 43 games. gGiven more game time and a much more settled team, there is no telling how good Seth Curry will be.
