As the first week of free agency comes to a close, there was certainly no shortness of chaos. Free agency in the NBA is like no other sport in terms of superstar players changing teams and ultimately, the landscape of the league for the year to come.

This particular summer had ramifications that NBA fans have never seen before due to the rise in salary cap. Teams had gone from a salary cap last year of $70 million to this summer’s $94.1 million.

That being said, teams have a floor of $84.7 million meaning if they don’t use up to that amount, penalties will follow.

What’s that mean? Well in layman’s terms, it’s a great time to be an average player in the NBA because you’ll likely get a contract worth much more than your overall production.

It also means that no one team really has the upper-hand in landing a superstar, which makes it even more interesting.

Let’s take a look at the five best deals reached this offseason thus far, taking into consideration the fit of the player with the respective team, and the contract numbers.
