It was only three years ago that Lance Stephenson received serious All-Star consideration while with the Indiana Pacers.

After unsuccessful stops with the Charlotte Hornets and the Los Angeles Clippers, he again showed some promise with the Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 14.2 points, 2.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds per game on 47.4 percent shooting and 35.5 percent from behind the arc.

According to the Vertical, the Grizzlies will decline Stephenson’s team option, freeing him to explore his options in free agency.

Stephenson has had his issues off the court, including domestic abuse back in 2010, and has often been seen as more trouble than he’s worth. For his locker room warts and off-court issues, nobody would fault a team from deciding to pass on him.

Any team deciding to take a gamble on him would need to have a strong locker-room culture in place and a support structure to try and manage him both on and off the court.

His issues and decline in play should make him a relatively cheap option in a summer where free agents seem in line for massive paydays with the raise in the salary cap.

With all of this in mind, here are some teams that could be in a position to take a gamble on the guard.
