No activity consumes fans and analysts more than determining the ceiling of an NBA Draft prospect. From breaking down game film to making upside comparisons to try to establish their potential value, the process knows of no restrictions.

Thus, the question beckons for the 2016 NBA Draft: how good could this year’s pool of prospects actually become?

When talking upside, the best way to define a player’s potential value is to outline the role they’re capable of playing. There’s more to it than merely elaborating upon their place in a rotation, but it’s the most fundamental aspect of their success.

Where a player lands in a rotation often dictates the opportunities they receive.

In some instances, the top prospects in the 2016 NBA Draft have genuine star potential. In most others, however, the ceiling of the Top 30 prospects is that of a starting-caliber player at their respective positions.
