The Process is now complete (well, Sam Hinkie is gone), leaving the Philadelphia 76ers in a better position. Here are 5 roster moves they need to make to improve next season.

The Philadelphia 76ers finally got the No. 1 draft pick. Hopefully, setting up the franchise up to lose has stopped as well. I have not enjoyed The Process and I do not think that I am alone there.

I have enjoyed watching some very talented young players, but ultimately they have been set up to lose for the good of the franchise.

Hopefully the No. 1 pick has not come too late for the franchise, since losing can become as much of a habit as winning — only it’s a much tougher habit to break.

The No. 1 pick is not a guarantee of anything. Greg Oden and Anthony Bennett are testament to that.

This means that Philadelphia is faced with a choice: Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram? The reality of the matter is that they could pick outside of these two but I doubt they will.

So, working on the assumption that Philadelphia goes for either Simmons or Ingram, both small forwards, they will have a very frontcourt-oriented roster.

More from Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia will have three talented power forward/center players in Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor to complement their new small forward. One of these players will be traded before the season is complete but I think that will be in February rather than before October.

From this point, it is obvious that Philadelphia needs to upgrade its backcourt. Their starting point guard is Ish Smith, who was certainly a boost to Philadelphia when he returned from his very short tenure with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Behind Smith are T.J McConnell and Kendall Marshall, both of whom are relatively inexperienced. Now I love McConnell’s attitude and play, but in reality he is still a ways off from being NBA-ready. Marshall is simply a third string point guard who needs more seasoning.

At shooting guard the problems are a little worse. Hollis Thompson, Nik Stauskas and Isaiah Canaan all have four years or less experience. They would be better off in a backup role rather than as starters.

Fortunately for Philadelphia, the other result of The Process is that they have a heap of cap space to try and sign one or two big name free agents. Here are five roster moves the Philadelphia 76ers need to make.
