The Dallas Mavericks are known to pursue the biggest of big names on the free agent market. The question is, who are the Mavericks’ most realistic high-profile targets?

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: the Dallas Mavericks have mountains of cap space and an eye for big-name free agents. It seems as though this happens with every passing season, although no high-profile pursuit has come to fruition in quite some time.

Hope springs eternal, as Dallas is gearing up for yet another run at some of the most noteworthy names on the open market.

The Mavericks continue to build around power forward Dirk Nowitzki, who will turn 38 years old on June 19. Dallas also has a two-way shooting guard in Wesley Matthews, but the rest of the roster is almost entirely undetermined.

Thus, this coming summer will go a long way towards determining what type of team the Mavericks put on the court in 2016-17.

For as consistently as Mark Cuban and company have come up short, there’s no reason to rule Dallas out as a potential free agency hotbed in 2016. Nowitzki is still a marvelous clutch scorer, and Matthews is one of the better 3-and-D specialists in the NBA.

The question is, which free agents do the Mavericks actually have a shot at signing?
