You’ve heard it before, and you’ll hear it a thousand times again: the NBA has become a point guard driven league. Teams don’t necessarily need elite point guard play to contend, but anything less than above-average value generally leads to overarching inconsistency.

Thus, it comes as no surprise that Providence Friars point guard Kris Dunn has piqued the interest of scouts, general managers, and analysts across the NBA.

Dunn finished the 2015-16 season with averages of 16.4 points, 6.2 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 1.3 3-point field goals made per game. He did so on a slash line of .448/.372/.695, and committed 3.5 turnovers per contest—an encouraging decline from his 4.2 in 2015-16.

Furthermore, Dunn led Providence to 24 wins and its first victory in an NCAA Tournament game since 1997.

Dunn is widely regarded as the must-have point guard in the 2016 NBA Draft. With elite physical tools and the advanced skill set of a true floor general, Dunn is believed to be one of the safest picks in the 2016 NBA Draft.

No prospect is flawless, but with the combination of virtues Dunn presents, he’s as enamoring a prospect as any.
