Which five NBA free agents should the Dallas Mavericks pursue this offseason?

The Dallas Mavericks are in a precarious position heading into this summer’s free agent market.

Without an infusion of youth for the future outside of one or two players and an aging superstar talent in Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas is in desperate need of a successful offseason to rebuild and retool a struggling roster. This is not a problem that can be fixed by overpaying one player, however.

The Mavs’ needs can be found at multiple positions, so finding the right combination of players will be key to any kind of roster rehabilitation.

Dirk’s career is winding down quickly, but he is still an effective, and sometimes still elite scorer when the Mavs need him to be. Wesley Matthews is signed through the 2018-19 season, as are J.J. Barea and Justin Anderson.

Salah Mejri and Devin Harris are signed through 2017-18 and Zaza Pachulia, David Lee and Raymond Felton are all unrestricted free agents. Chandler Parsons is expected to follow Dirk and Deron Williams and opt of his deal going into next season.

All signs point to Dirk resigning, but the futures of Williams and Parsons are a bit more unclear, unless the Mavs retain CP’s early Bird rights and lock him down.

So as you can see, this roster is in serious need of retooling if the Mavs want to compete next season. So who will the Mavs court this offseason? Here is our list of five players we think they should target this summer starting with….
