The NBA Draft combine is a fickle place and sometimes it does more damage than good.

Many viewers of the festivities over these coming days will watch the proceedings of the combine and come away in awe over the athleticism of prospects and disappointed with the measurements of others.

To some degree, these measurements can be vital, as the majority of teams will make final decisions on players and provide them promises of being drafted if they reach a certain range.

That being said, many of the general managers and major decision makers have already done their homework on these players throughout the season. The combine is merely a platform for them to meet the prospects face to face, to form connections and get into the minds of these young men taking likely the biggest step in their lives.

The major analysis of a player’s abilities takes place in the film room.

Watching prospects perform the vertical leap, the 3/4-court sprint and getting their hands measured are simply a way to connect the dots of what GMs already know. If the best athletes were drafted the highest with no bearing of mental skills and coordination, then whoever made that decision would likely be fired immediately.

Athleticism is important, but being able to play the game is much more so.

With that in mind, here are some players who will play better in the NBA than any combine measurement could try to quantify.
