There were plenty of disappointments in the NBA this season, with the Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards and Milwaukee Bucks topping the list. But even though the Phoenix Suns didn’t soak up their fair share of that category, there’s no question that this team was a massive letdown for its fanbase.

A 2015-16 campaign that began with playoff aspirations quickly unraveled into a season filled with injuries, underachieving, porous defense, sideline brawls, thrown towels, locker room tensions, a fired head coach, a traded starting power forward and ultimately, a grand total of 23 wins.

And yet, during exit interviews Thursday, there was a strangely positive vibe emanating from the departing Suns players cleaning out their lockers for the summer. Under interim head coach Earl Watson, the Suns finished the season surprisingly upbeat despite their 9-24 record to close it off.

It’d be easy to chalk up the second-worst season in the 48-year history of the Phoenix Suns as something to throw away (and it was arguably THE worst Suns season ever, given the expectations coming into the year), but there are still a few key takeaways to be had after exit interviews. Here are the five most important things to know about the Suns moving forward.
