The Houston Rockets are currently locked in a battle for a playoff spot in the Western Conference. They are currently clinging onto seventh place and are tied with the Dallas Mavericks, only two games ahead of the Utah Jazz for a playoff spot.

They are also only 1.5 games behind the Portland Trail Blazers for sixth place, which would mean they avoid the buzzsaws that are the Golden State Warriors or San Antonio Spurs in the first round.

The Rockets were able to keep pace in the Western Conference despite a five-game road trip that ended this past weekend. The Rockets, who went into the trip with a 13-17 record away from the Toyota Center, came away from the trip with a 3-2 record.

They were able to pick up impressive victories over the Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics, while also defeating the Philadelphia 76ers. The losses they suffered bookended the trip, as they got it started with a loss to the Chicago Bulls and ended it with a loss to the Charlotte Hornets.

They were able to get back over the .500 mark for the first time since Feb. 6 while on this trip, albeit it only for a couple of hours.

Despite a loss in the last game of the road trip, the Rockets were able to build some positive momentum on the road trip coming away with a winning record. They will now have three home games this upcoming week, two against Western Conference playoff teams, as they look to continue their climb in the Western Conference and cement their status as a playoff team.

Before we move onto the mini homestand that starts this week, let’s take a look back at the road trip that the Rockets just finished up. Check out our takeaways from the five-game road trip that the Rockets had to come away from feeling pretty good about themselves.
