After a few weeks off, Giacubeno’s Gunners is back in business taking a look at the top scorers from the week that was in the NBA.

It’s baaaaaaack! Apologies for the couple of weeks that Giacubeno’s Gunners didn’t drop, but I’m happy to get the column back up and running as we (sadly) approach the last chunk of the NBA season. So as many people are aware, teams are just coming back from All-Star break where the NBA and its players did a perfect job in entertaining all weekend.

The dunk contest seemed to be on the pathway to extinction after many years of disappointing performances, but Zach Lavine and Aaron Gordon had arguably the best battle we’ve ever seen. Gordon decided to jump over a mascot, bringing the ball under both legs as he sat eight feet in the air before flushing it home.

Lavine chose to redefine gravity as we know it by floating from the free-throw line while going between the legs before completely shutting down the area. If you were under a rock or you’re a rebel and decided to skip out on the festivities, here is a highlight reel of what you missed:

Once All-Star Weekend concluded, the excitement didn’t stop. Trade deadline week approached and we all know how crazy it can be especially on the last day in the final hour. In disappointing fashion, there were no blockbuster trades, but the moves that were made were for rotation players who could help bolster a team’s place in the standings. The biggest trade was Orlando sending Tobias Harris to Detroit for Brandon Jennings and Ersan Ilyasova. Harris hasn’t played up to par as of this season, but in head coach Stan Van Gundy’s system, he is more likely to see his production rise playing off of Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond pick-and-rolls.

But let’s get back to what we do here at Giacubeno’s Gunners, and that’s focusing on the bucket-getters every week. With games starting back up last Thursday, each player on the list will have only played two games, but two specific players went nuts.

Here are previous players who were crowned Gunner of the Week:

Week 1- Stephen Curry

Week 2- James Harden

Week 3- Russell Westbrook

Week 4- DeMarcus Cousins

Week 5- Stephen Curry

Week 6- Klay Thompson

So without further ado, let’s check out the top scorers from the last five days.
