NBA: Top 5 Point Guards So Far This Season
No. 4 John Wall
Total PG rating: 31.5
Wall has been playing sensational this season aside from the alarming 4.2 turnovers per game. The turnovers are due to the ball being in his hands for what it seems to be the entire game. His usage percentage (28.7) is at it’s highest since the 2013-14 season–which was the highest in his career by far at 29.3.
Washington has dealt with a slew of injuries this season to starters and rotation players. One includes his counterpart in the backcourt, Bradley Beal. Even Wall himself has been dealing with a few nagging injuries, but has been able to withstand the pain and continue to play at an extremely high level so the Wizards can stay close to the eighth seed.
The Wizards are 15-17 overall, good enough for 11th place in the East. Without Wall, it’s safe to say they would be in the range of the Sixers and Nets in terms of win totals.
Wall posted eight straight double-doubles before having that streak broken last night against the Miami Heat. He has proven over the years that he is consistently one of the best point guards in the league, but unfortunately this season his numbers have slacked because of the scorers that have been out dealing with injuries.
