Should the Philadelphia 76ers make a play for the top targets on the trade block or stay with their current roster?

Covering a hyper-active team, albeit not recently, like the Philadelphia 76ers is a treat, as general manager Sam Hinkie has transformed the roster from three seasons ago. No player on their 2012-2013 roster suits up for the team anymore and with their recent desire to add veterans to their youth-laden unit, new faces could be added by year’s end.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that the 76ers met with both Chuck Hayes and John Lucas III, two veterans formerly in the league, recently to inquire about their services.

Hayes, 32, and Lucas, 33, are players who have manned the PF and PG positions respectively in the NBA since the 2005-06 season. Similar to how Minnesota brought in both PG Andre Miller and SF Tayshaun Prince, the Sixers are vying for a veteran presence to assist the development of the youngest team in the league (23.5 years of age on average).

There are also much more potent names on the market the Sixers could target. With DeMarcus Cousinsname being thrown around and Markieff Morris still a disgruntled asset in Phoenix, the 2015-16 trade season could be explosive, with deals shaking up the league.

Here are five players currently on the market that the Sixers should and shouldn’t make a play for.
