Everyone knows Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is an MVP candidate, but is he also the league’s Most Improved Player?

In case you were hibernating over the weekend, yes, the Golden State Warriors lost their first game of the season. Whether you believed their streak stood at 24 games or 28 games is irrelevant now, since it’s over. The Dubs have an abysmal 24-1 record now and honestly there’s no reason to watch them anymore since they probably won’t even make the playoffs.

In all seriousness though, since the end of the streak and its impact have already been hammered into the ground, something else needs to be addressed in our Golden State Warriors coverage. And yes, while Stephen Curry‘s unbelievable season has already been covered ad nauseam, there’s another award — other than MVP — that he should be seriously considered for.

For most, the idea that Stephen Curry is a legitimate candidate for Most Improved Player of the Year seems ludicrous. He’s coming off a regular season MVP Award, just won an NBA championship and has already established himself as the greatest shooter we’ve ever seen.

But even though we typically think of relatively unknown players suddenly establishing themselves as legitimate players when we think of the MIP Award, there aren’t many players who have taken a bigger leap from last season than Curry. He probably won’t win the award, but here’s why Steph Curry is a legitimate Most Improved Player candidate.
